-What do you think about the actual urban reggae sound in Jamaica and in Africa? What music do you listen right now? Just like all things in nature, evolution takes place, it’s in evitable. While still accepting the style and sound of the past we the youths of today create our urban reggae sound from the different cultural influences presently. In order for things to grow there must be change so we accept and embrace the new urban reggae sound. We listen to all genre and styles of music.
The digital media era has done much for independent labels and artist. In time past the process to get your music aired around the world would have been very costly, tedious and time consuming. Today it gets in the hand of broadcaster and fans in seconds by the click of one button. Social networks have worked in many cases positive for our music today. It helps increasing fan base, getting the music aired and also creates an intimate connection between fan and artist. On the other hand music production has become easier with Mega Upload, S.O.P.A/P.I.P.A etc giving you the freedom to be anywhere in the world and still be a part of recording session with C-Sharp in Jamaica.
- Can you tell us about your experience recording your last album "The Invitation"? And one the story behind the connection with Busy Signal and Third World? Both bands are friends of Moochila! Can you tell us about the support and news of Busy Signal real situation? Since our debut album “What a Day” in 2005 we have been writing, recording and building our catalogue, patiently honing our sound. The most challenging part was choosing 13 songs out of six years worth of recording but the experience gained and memories made are priceless. Our song “Better Day coming” was one of the first collaborations between two Bands in Jamaican history. It was truly a magical moment in studio with our mentor Band Third World. C-Sharp was birth out of spontaneous jamming, so was the title track of our album. While writing we knew we needed someone just as spontaneous and creative to extend this invitation. After working with Busy Signal over the past 2 years on his projects it was an undisputed among the members he had the perfect sound. We and the Jamaican Music fraternity supports to Busy Signal and his family through this time. We are holding faith and praying that all will work out in his best interest. This song was written and recorded in 2005 to perpetuate the beauty and life of our paradise Jamaica, so the video had to exhibit all the beauty that the song spoke about. Jamaica has come a long way since our independence in 1962. We have seen growth in all sectors, in the field of music, sports and so on. We are really happy that we are here today to mark 50 years of independence and we C-Sharp are 100% behind our country preserving our culture.
- Are you touring right now, right? Maybe a 2012 tour in Argentina? We started The Invitation tour in South Korea Asia and at present we are in Europe and it would be a privilege to continue this tour in Argentina and South America so we await the invitation.
-Can you write any words of free speech to our people and fans around the world? We are really grateful for the support of all fans around the world, Radio and TV broadcasters and just everyone that supports our music. Our new album The Invitation is available on iTunes internationally. We invite you to keep supporting C-Sharp by getting your copy today.
