With nearly a million views on YouTube, 192660 hits on MySpace, and an overall steady online following Toronto rapper JD Era is truly living up to the fact that he is one of Canada’s best lyricists. Applauded by his peers and other industry professionals for his freestyle flow, JD possess an unrelenting demeanor and competitive attitude that will most definitely continue to serve him well. In the last few years JD Era has worked alongside artists like Nas, Gza, Kardinal Offishall, The Clipse and, of course, he’s managed to cut a track or two Young Money’s recording artist Drake who is also a longtime friend. In 2008 it was apparent that he was catching more attention when he was nominated for two DJ Stylus Awards, took home the hardware for Best Rap at the Toronto Independent Music Awards, and later was crowned the winner of the TAG Records’ Survival of The Freshest competition. JD Era has also crossed international borders with an appearance in an issue of Black Men’s Magazine and by signing a highly successful US ringtone deal with UrbMob. He has even spent some time living and working on music in New York City and performing on a few dates out in the UK. With 4 solid mix tapes under his belt, JD Era will release his first official full-length album in 2010 but first he will hit the fans with a downloadable prequel entitled “Th1rt3en.” On February 25th, 2010 “Th1rt3en” will be available on th1rt3en-mixtape.com for FREE! Canada’s mix tape King DJ Dax out of Montreal will host the tape with production by Northern Profit, Pro Logic, Beat Merchant, Drumcrazie, OB, Boi 1da and Don Cannon. “Th1rt3en” will feature appearances by artist such as Saukrates, Lokz, OB, Freddie Gibbs, Q Da Kid, and Drake.

With a trademark “in your face” approach and developed flow JD Era is well on his way to infiltrating the music industry worldwide. Creatively bridging the underground and the mainstream worlds, his elaborate wordplay and clever sound have already distinguished him from all the rest in the streets and on the stage. People get ready because the “Prince of The North,” is about to become king of the rap game!

1-What do you think about the actual urban sound in TORONTO ?  And the urban hip hop sound in NY? What changes you see in the actual music about the digital media and the liberation of tracks via internet ? What do you think about SoundCloud, Ustream and other free media devices? What do you think about Megaupload and S.O.P.A / P.I.P.A.?

I think the urban sound in Toronto is slowly developing into something major. Hip Hop was created in New York so they have a rich history. We're still building that in Toronto. Digital media gives artist the opportunity to be everywhere at once via the Internet. I use things like soundcloud and ustream to stay in touch with my fans.

2-Can you tell us about your last proyect UNSPECTED VICTORY with RAEKWON? How began the connection with RAE and the story behind the fantastic track and video SOLDIER STORY?? Can you tell us the story about the friendship and working with DRAKE?

Unexpected Victory (free download here) was Raekwon's last mixtape. I was featured on 5 of the songs which was a blessing for me. I met the chef about a year ago in Canada and we've been recording and bouncing ideas back and forth ever since. We made Soldier Story in a late night studio session. A little liquor, little greenery and the rest was history.

3-What are your inspirations in the beginning of this 2012?  What artists and producers do you like? And what you can tell us about the label ICE H20 and the artists involved?

I'm just looking forward to getting out this new No Handouts mixtape this year. I think the people are in for a pleasant surprise when I drop his new project. I'm taking it to another level. I'm a fan of a lo of artist. I prefer 90's hip hop nowadays. You can look out for Kofi Black the first R&B singer signed to the label and Camouflage aka Gangis Khan out of Toronto. ICE H20 Brinks Boys.

4-Do you know hip hop of  LatinAmerica? Maybe a 2012 tour with the Raekwon?

I don't know much about the Latin America hip hop scene. I listen to a little reggaeton though. Hopefully me and Raekwon can come out there and represent Ice H20 n the near future.

5-Can you write any words of free speach to our radiofans around the world?

Live for the moment! Never let someone tell you that you can't make it cause dreams come true if you put in the work. No Handouts! Go get it!
