BAD VEINS - The Mess We've Made (iTunes)

1-What do you think about the actual rock sound in Cincinatti?  And the urban rock sound in USA ? What changes you see in the actual music about the digital media and the liberation of tracks via internet? What do you think about Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Ustream and other free media devices? What do you think about Megaupload and S.O.P.A / P.I.P.A.?

Wow.  That’s a lot of questions.  Well, I think that Cincinnati has a great music scene—very supportive fans and a lot of diverse genres.  As far as the rock sound in the USA, I feel as though it’s just as diverse.  There’s a lot of choose from—especially with the proliferation of the internet and sites such as Bandcamp and SoundCloud.  Those tools have made it much easier to deliver music directly to fans…about as quickly as possible.

I’m a big fan of supporting bands (I know what’s it’s like being in a band myself) – so I try to avoid the torrent sites.  That said, sometimes people who do download music illegally will end up buying albums to support those bands.  It’s all so complicated now – whatever happened to the days of the cassette tape?!

2-Can you tell us about the new  The Mess We've Made? And the story behind programming and recording the album?

The album is the culmination of a lot of work – beginning about a year ago.  We recorded it at a studio here at home (in Cincinnati), so we had much more time to craft the album exactly how we heard it in our heads.  It was a lot of work, but a fairly relaxed situation.  In the past, we’re used to having to rush, rush, rush.  Thankfully, on The Mess We’ve Made we had time to explore ideas and sculpt the songs properly—that certainly resulted in a very clean sounding record…with more of a “pop” sound.  We both love pop music, so we’re happy with the results.

3-How began the story behind the new fresh video DANCING ON TV?

Ha!  Well, it sort of evolved from an idea that came from an episode of the Cosby Show.  That sort spurred a life of its own and became the video it is now – a dance show and Ben traveling through the airwaves and exploding out of a television.  We used all of our friends and filmed in a this giant studio—it was all very fun.  Our friend Chris Hardwick gueststars as the host of the television show…

4-What are your inspirations in the beginning of this 2012?  What artists and producers do you recommend of ? Maybe a 2012 tour in Argentina?

We would love to tour in Argentina!  I’m not sure what our schedule will be yet, but we’ll certainly do our best to visit South America at some point.

My girlfriend just got the new Wild Flag album on vinyl.  It’s really good!  I’m a big Sleater-Kinney fan, so it wasn’t hard for me to get into Wild Flag…

5-Can you write any words of free speach to our people and fans around the world?

To reiterate what I typed above, I very much hope that we can tour in Argentina soon! I love visiting and traveling in other cultures, from what I’ve heard Argentina is definitely a place to visit.

Until then, enjoy the album!!!
