1-What do you think about the actual urban hip hop sound in Brooklyn and in NY? What music do you listen right now?
In my opinion NY is LOST. We lost our identity when the South took over. There used to be a distinct New York sound. None of the new commercial NY cats are doing music that is screams NEW YORK! Its mostly southern sound based music.
2-What changes you see in the actual music about the digital media and the liberation of tracks via internet? What do you think about Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Ustream and other free media devices? What do you think about the situations with Megaupload and S.O.P.A / P.I.P.A.?
The internet is here to stay. The sooner artists accept and embrace that fact the better off they will be in the long run. The landscape is different and we must make the necessary adjustments to succeed. I use soundcloud, ustream and other digital media to my advantage.
3- Can you tell us about your experience recording your new and great album MA DOOM: Son of Yvonne? And the story behind the connection with the legendary BIG DADDDY KANE?
I just took my time and made songs that related to a time when i was growing up in Brownsville. As i wrote i imagined my mother and grandmother alive and well. It felt good to revive those memories and honor my mom at the same time. Kane has always been a considerate brother to me. He allowed me to jump on his set and spit way back before my first album even dropped. He always looked out. I was glad that the opportunity to have him on this album came about. It made sense so i asked him.
4-How began the idea of the incredible group EMC? Do you like actually any hip hop group?
It came about because we had been on the road together heavy since 2001. We built good chemistry together on stage for years. The fans ultimately made it happen. The put the idea in our heads and we decided to experiment. We did one song, people liked it so we did an album.
5-Rock the Bells allways have great artists performing classic albums like Nas with "illmatic", Raekwon and Gosthface with "Only Built for Cuban Linx", what do you think about it? Did you receive an invitation to recreate one of your great classics albums?
I have not been asked as of yet. If i were asked, i would hope it would be Disposable Arts.
5- Are you touring right now, right? Maybe a in 2012/2013 tour in Argentina?
I usually dont tour between mid August and late November because i coach high school football. I did tour Canada in March and Europe in May. Those were both very successful. I hope to one day perform in Argentina. That would be great since I have not really toured in that part of the world!
