-What are your feelings about the recent collaboration with Sizzla? At the point where we just where releasing it Sizzla was scheudled to hold a show in Sweden. Due to protests from gayrights-activists the show was cancelled and a lot of media wrote about it. In my eyes Sizzla has the right to express his beliefs even though I might not share them. The focus was on this small portion of Sizzla production instead of on the theme of the song ''Good for the world'' wich is more representative of Sizzlas message. I love the tune! I consider Kalonji the biggest modern reggae artist. He has a deep feeling for the need of his people. Check out his quit newly started Sizzla Youth Foundation.
-What changes you see in the actual music about the digital media and the liberation of tracks via internet? What do you think about Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Ustream and other free media devices? When my first band, Svenska akademien, emerged around 1999, CD-sales where allready down to nothing and we spread our music free from our website. In this way we reached quite far just by doing it ourselves. Promoting our music, recording and touring. Compared to the last years breakthrough in streamed music the big difference is that recording music is going from being a quite costly thing where the money never came back, to a income so you can focus on the creative sphere of life. At least music streamed through services as Spotify where the artist get payed.
-Can you tell us about the experience shotting in Jamaica the great video "Reach so Far" with the reggae legend Capleton? Yes I, I was in Jamaica three months this spring. A swedish friend of mine, Arig, had some friends at Davids House wich she introduced me to. Some days later I went there with my friend and we meet up with Capleton. He asked me who I was. I told him, General Knas, swedish reggae singer. He asked me to sing something. So I sang the chorus ''Nothing a go stop you now that you reach so far'' and after I finished he started flowing, picking up lines from my chorus.. I was proper excited. Let's do a tune! And record it straight away! He just looked at me and started singing ...don't over do it'' So the words in the intro was actually for me, haha. I just loved the vibe around Capleton and the whole David House crew. So I came back a couple of times, and we recorded the tune. The video was shot by some of my jamaican friends. We brought the whole of the yard up to mountains 2000 m over the sea. I stayed my three months just close to where the video is shot.
-Can you tell us about the reggae scene in Sweden ? What are your feelings about artists like Etzia & Labyrint? Etzia is a old friend from the mad Gothenburg scene, including Partillo and Kapten Röd. She's ultra-talented and gonna reach far. A really lovely lady! Labyrint and me are currently touring together on a thing called ''Uncensored''. We're quite liberal when it comes to ganjasmoking, and in Sweden that's considered so big a problem that we got shows cancelled, police and politicians recomending venues not to book us and so on. They're some crazy bunch of flummare. Mad artists too. Check the interview with Etzia here. 5-Are you recording new music? Allways working on new things. But not gonna record proper untill february. I have a couple of songs and videos ready to release. Some bullits in the gun allready.
-What do you think about the reggae music sounding in this time and the actuallity of the rythm worldwide? Reggae is fresh as allways, creating roots in an digital age. Taking new sounds in old paths. Reggae is global. Theres a kind of reggae for everyone. 80's digital, 90' raggamuffin, dubstep, modern roots, swedish folk music reggae, reggaeton, dancehall.. Rebel music number one!
-Can you tell us about something of Promoe and the hip hop scene in Sweden? Promoe got this kinda prophetglow to his eyes, wich sometimes almost scares me. Hiphop as well as reggae is growing in Sweden. A new generation is stepping in.
-What are your inspirations in the end of this 2012? I just saw some lecture on youtube by Nassim Haramein, that was inspiring shit. Otherwise, the snow falling outside, my lovely woman and a book about Mansur Al-Hallaj. Music, checking out my good friend Chronixx latest. All inspiration is due to the Creator.
-Maybe a 2013 tour in Argentina? Sounds tempting! I'm going back to Jamaica after next summer, so I'll be closer at least! I had some contacs with sounds and agents from colombia, mexico and chile to, so why not an south american tour, inshallah.
-We invite General Knas to write a few words to yor fans in the world and fans in our program Moochila. A Big Up goes out to each and everyone involved in the reggaescene worldwide! It's a global family, One Love!
